Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
Saskatchewan Roughrider defensive lineman Stevie Baggs has been named the CFL's Gibson's Finest Defensive Player of the Week.
The second year Rider played an instrumental part in the Riders 28-24 win over the B.C. Lions at Mosaic Stadium on Friday night. Baggs had two quarterback sacks, two defensive tackles, one forced fumble, one pass knockdown and one fumble recovery.
In addition to Baggs and the Green and White defence receiving acknowledgement, Rider receiver Weston Dressler was selected as the runner-up for the Gibson's Finest Offensive Player of the Week. Last year's CFL Most Outstanding Rookie finished Friday's game with a team leading 154 receiving yards off seven receptions.
This marks the first week of a full season of Gibson's Finest Player awards which will be handed out on a weekly and monthly basis through the end of November.
