Sanford Mainers News Release

SANFORD, Maine - Two Mainers have been selected for the 2023 NECBL All-Star Game, Presented by Metro Credit Union. Logan Poteet (Vanderbilt) is the starting catcher and Devan Bade (Binghamton) is the reserve second baseman for the East Division.

Poteet carries a .309 average into Sunday's announcement, which puts him first amongst all qualified catchers and tenth amongst all qualified hitters in the league. Following a freshman campaign with the Commodores in which he saw no action, Poteet's summer stat line shows a .400 on-base percentage, eight runs scored, three home runs and 19 RBIs.

The Tennessee native has hit safely in his last six games heading into a day off on Sunday due to inclement weather. During that six-game stretch, which has been composed of entirely North Division matchups, Poteet is hitting .473 (9-19) with six runs scored, two home runs and seven runs batted while reaching base an additional five times on free passes.

Bade has a lengthy hitting streak of his own as he has hit safely over his last eight games, which is his third hitting streak of over six games this summer. Over that stretch, Bade is batting .333 (10-30) with four runs scored and five more driven in to put his season totals at .286 with 20 runs scored, two home runs and 19 RBIs.

The second-year Mainer, who is a staple in the upper half of the Mainers lineup, is one of the most consistent hitters in the NECBL. Bade has not only found his way on base in 27-of-28 games in which he has appeared this season, but he has also recorded a hit in 23 of those 28 contests.

Bade and Poteet will hit the turf of Frasier Field in Lynn, Mass. when the East Division, which consists of Newport, Ocean State, Mystic, North Shore, Martha's Vineyard and Sanford, takes on the West Division on Sunday, July 23.

It will be Poteet catching the first pitch from Newport's Santosh Gottam (Brown) at 4:30 p.m.
