Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release

The Jamestown Rebels scored once in both the second and third period to overcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights by a 2-1 final at Northwest Arena Saturday night.

Wilkes-Barre has now lost five straight, sitting 5-9-1 through the first quarter of the season.

Jacob Badal got the scoring started, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead midway through the opening period. Davis Pennington took a goal line shot on Rebels' goalie Ryan Keane that bounced off the net minder and onto the stick of Badal who was parked in front. Badal scored his third goal of the season and his first since playing the New Jersey Titans on October 5th.

A 1-0 lead took the visiting Knights into intermission. In the second, Noah Finstrom found himself in a two-on-one situation with Connor Linton. Finstrom elected to shoot rather than pass, beating Knights' keeper Samuel Vyletelka on the blocker side to even the score.

Vyletelka was once again sharp in a losing effort. The NHL Central Scouting recognized goaltender owned 30 saves on the night, making it the fourth time in six starts he has made at least 30 stops.

With 7:07 left in the third, Vyletelka would have a rare, but costly error in the game. A relatively easy shot from Augistine Moore found it's way to the net and Vyletelka was unable to hold onto the puck. Alex Frye noticed it was loose and jammed it home for what would be the game winning goal.

A 32-18 shot differential favored the Rebels in this game. The Knights were outshot in each period on Saturday and five of the six frames the two teams played over the weekend. Both clubs went 0-3 on the power play Saturday night.

October is in the rearview mirror for the Knights as they move forward to November, starting Thursday afternoon against the East Division leading Johnstown Tomahawks.
