Bulls Drop 2-1 OT Decision to Brahmas
October 27, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas were involved in a tight-checking, exciting affair at NYTEX Sports Center on Friday night. An overtime goal by Michal Stinil with 21 seconds remaining lifted the hometown Brahmas past the Bulls 2-1. Despite the loss, the Bulls remain alone in first place in the South Division by two points over the Topeka Pilots.
There was no scoring in the first two periods of play as the defense and goaltenders were equal to the task. The Bulls fired several shots towards goaltender Seth Eisele but failed to push anything past him. Jason Brancheau and Nick Trela each had a breakaway in the first period. Jason Grande was brilliant at the other end coming up with some key saves to prevent the Brahmas from scoring.
The Brahmas thought they had taken a 1-0 lead in the second period on a partial breakaway from Brenden Jones but after further review the officials deemed the puck hadn't crossed the line.
Frank Trazzera Jr gave the Brahmas a 1-0 lead early in the third period when he stuffed home a rebound opportunity in front of the net. The Bulls pulled even four minutes later when Cooper Fensterstock spotted Trey Bagwell open with perfect pass. Bagwell fired a shot past Eisele to tie the game.
The Bulls had several chances to take the lead late in regulation time but were unsuccessful.
In overtime, Michal Stinil was streaking towards the net on an odd-man rush and wired a shot past Jason Grande on the far post to win the game.
The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Lone Star Brahmas 23-17. Each team had one power play but didn't score.
