Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils jumped out to an early 3-0 lead Sunday night but paid the price for a rough fifth inning and lost to the Boise Hawks 6-4 Sunday night at Gesa Stadium. The Dust Devils (9-9 Second Half) (31-25 Overall) allowed five runs in the fifth inning to the Hawks (5-13 Second Half) (19-37 Overall), which proved to be the difference in the game.
A.J. Kennedy had two RBIs for the Dust Devils, while Henry Charles and Mitch Morales each had an RBI for Tri-City. Ty France had two hits in the game. Rod Boykin had a hit and a stolen base.
Hamlet Marte had three hits and an RBI for the Hawks. Kevin Padlo had an RBI double for Boise. Jensen Park, Marcos Derkes and Carlos Herrara each had an RBI as well. Wesley Jones and Brian Mundell each had two hits in the game.
Tri-City starting pitcher Griffin Russell pitched three strong innings. Russell had five strikeouts and gave up just two hits in his outing. Corey Kimber (2-2) received the loss in relief. Kimber pitched one and two thirds innings, struck out one batter and gave up five runs on two hits.
Starting pitcher Colin Welmon pitched one and one third innings for the Hawks. Welmon struck out one batter and gave up two runs on just one hit. Logan Cozart (1-0) received his first win of the season in relief. He pitched two and two thirds innings while striking out one batter and gave up one run and two hits.
The Dust Devils will hit the road for a three game series against the Vancouver Canadians from August 17th to August 19th. They will return home August 20th for a three game series against the Everett Aquasox. The first 500 fans through the gates that night will receive a team photo thanks to American National - Grant Young.
