Back Earns Fourth Shutout in Televised Game

WINDSOR, CO - The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) shutout the Odessa Jackalopes in the team's second televised game of the 2003-04 season, at the Budweiser Events Center this afternoon, 1-0. The Eagles sold out their twentieth consecutive home game tonight, 5,211 fans were in attendance, and the Colorado Eagles one hundred thousandth fan was recognized at the game. The Eagles are now 25-10-2 and have 52 points. The Jackalopes are now 12-23-2 on the season with 28 points. The only goal of the game was scored by right winger Greg Pankewicz. Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach earned his fourth shutout of the season, saving 19 shots. Jackalopes netminder Mike Gorman saved an impressive 37 of 38 shots.

For the first time in Colorado's history, the first two periods of play remained scoreless for the first time at home. Bach and Gorman were perfect in the net, each goalie making equally impressive saves.

The Eagles struck only forty-eight seconds into the third period, when Pankewicz finally shot one past Gorman. The right winger was assisted on the afternoon's only goal by left winger Ryan Tobler and defenseman Brad Williamson.

Bach earned his fourth shutout of the season, saving 19 shots. The Eagles out shot the Jackalopes 38 to 19. The Eagles are first in the Northwest Division and tied for second in the league overall with the Amarillo Gorillas.

NEXT FOR THE EAGLES

The last game of the Eagles four game home stand will be against the Tulsa Oilers Friday, January 16 at 7:05 p.m. (MST). Immediately following the game against Tulsa, the Eagles will travel to New Mexico to take on the Scorpions Saturday, January 17 at 7:05 p.m. (MST). The team will then face off against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Friday, January 23 at 7:05 p.m. (MST) at the Budweiser Events Center. There will be a televised rematch Saturday, January 24 with a 3:05 p.m. (MST) start time.
