Bachar Shines as Missions Stumble on Saturday Night

San Antonio Missions News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions took the field Saturday night wearing custom Thor jerseys in participation with Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond. Unfortunately, it was not a super night for the Missions. The offense was shutout and collected just two hits. The Frisco RoughRiders scored six runs on 11 hits. For the fourth time this season, the Missions were held without a run.
Ben Krauth got the start tonight for the Missions. Krauth, who was released by the Cleveland Guardians on June 20th, was signed by San Diego earlier in the week. The left-hander allowed a solo home run in the top of the first inning. With one out in the inning, Dustin Harris left the yard to give Frisco a 1-0 lead.
The RoughRiders improved their lead with two runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. David Garcia started the inning with a base hit. Josh Stowers followed that up with a double. After recording the first out of the inning, Krauth allowed a two-RBI single to Trey Hair. Frisco increased their lead to 3-0.
Frisco doubled their lead in the top of the fourth inning. Garcia began the inning with a solo home run. That was the end of the night for Krauth as Henry Henry came in out of the bullpen. Henry allowed back-to-back singles to Stowers and Jax Biggers. After a fly out, Stowers came around to score on a ground out to Kellen Strahm. Harris drove in a run with a single to right field. Frisco improved their lead to 6-0.
Tim Brennan was the starting pitcher for the RoughRiders. He dominated the Missions offense on the way to his second win of the season. Brennan did not allow a base hit until the bottom of the sixth inning. Edwin Rojas started off the inning with a base hit and Connor Hollis singled in the next at-bat. Brennan was replaced by Seth Nordlin. He recorded a fly out and a double play to leave the runners stranded. Brennan pitched five shutout innings while allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four batters.
Nordlin lasted two innings while not allowing a baserunner. Tyler Thomas and Nick Starr each contributed with scoreless innings. For the Missions, Lake Bachar tossed two scoreless innings after replacing Henry and Felix Minjarez pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

With the loss, San Antonio falls to 41-37 (overall), 3-8 (2nd half) on the season

The San Antonio Missions wrap-up their six-game homestand with the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday, July 10th. Right-hander Nolan Watson (1-4, 6.91) is scheduled to start for the Missions. The Frisco RoughRiders have not yet announced their starter for Sunday's game. First pitch is expected at 6:05 p.m.
