Frisco RoughRiders News Release
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The six-game series ended on Sunday between the Frisco RoughRiders and San Antonio Missions, as the Riders fell 10-0 at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Second baseman Trey Hair led the Frisco offense with a 2-for-3 night and a double, as Frisco won their second series in their last three by taking four games out of six in San Antonio.
San Antonio scored early on Frisco starter Jack Leiter (2-7) with four runs in the first and three in the second. Reliever Kevin Gowdy finished the second by delivering the final two outs to relieve Leiter in the Sunday loss.
Missions starter Nolan Watson (2-4) struck out nine batters in six scoreless innings, both season-highs in his second start of the week and his first win since May 13th.
Southpaw Avery Weems threw three innings for the Riders in his first bullpen appearance since May 4th, giving up two earned runs in his three frames.
Frisco reliever Triston Polley struck out three batters in his two innings, giving up one walk on no runs or hits. Polley's three strikeouts came as his most since his promotion to the Double-A level and most since he waved five on May 10th with Hickory.
Fellow relief pitcher Joe Corbett struck out a batter in his lone inning of work, retiring the Missions in order in the final inning of work.
The RoughRiders return home on July 12th against the Midland RockHounds for the only full homestand in the month of July. For tickets and more information about the Frisco RoughRiders, visit RidersBaseball.com or call 972.731.9200.
