CORPUS CHRISTI - Brett Harris, Logan Davidson, Chase Calabuig and Marty Bechina went deep Sunday afternoon as the Midland RockHounds completed a six-game sweep of the Hooks with a 6-3 victory at Whataburger Field.
Midland departs Corpus Christi with 10 consecutive wins against the Hooks.
The homers supported a strong performance by lefty Ty Damron, who spread two runs and five hits over five innings of work.
The Hooks got to Damron for a run in the second. Will Wagner worked a lead-off walk and sprinted to third on a double by Alex McKenna. Edwin Díaz then lifted a sac fly to center.
Back-to-back doubles by Grae Kessinger and Justin Dirden made it a 3-2 game in the fifth.
The RockHounds struck for insurance in the sixth against when Calabuig hit a two-run dinger to left against Misael Tamarez. The nine-hole hitter was a triple shy of the cycle, extending his hit streak to 11 games.
Tamarez relieved Hooks right-hander Jose Bravo, who spread three runs and nine hits over five frames. Bravo fanned five and did not issue a walk.
CC managed its third run in the seventh thanks to a two-out RBI single by Shay Whitcomb.
The Hooks are off Monday and will try to end their seven-game losing streak on Tuesday as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals visit Whataburger Field for a six-game series.
