Wednesday, Dec. 30: Binghamton 3, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 6

Shots: Binghamton 27, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 37

PP: Binghamton 1 for 6, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 for 5

The B-Sens faced the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the third of eight regular season meetings between the teams, and for the third time failed to escape with a win. Pens captain Wyatt Smith tallied two goals and one assist; while Chris Connor recorded three assists as Wilkes-Barre went on to win 6-3. Drew Bannister had a two point game for the B-Sens recording a goal and an assist. Kaspars Daugavins and Denis Hamel also tallied goals for Binghamton. Andy Chiodo was chased from the Senators' net in the first period, after allowing three goals on 10 shots. Chris Holt took over between the pipes stopping 24 of 27 shots.

Thursday, Dec. 31: Norfolk 2, Binghamton 3

Shots: Norfolk 38, Binghamton 41

PP: Norfolk 0 for 5, Binghamton 1 for 7

In the traditional Binghamton New Year's Eve game, the B-Sens played host to East Division rivals, the Norfolk Admirals. Entering the game the teams had split the season series 2-2. It was Binghamton that would leave the game with bragging rights as they went on to win 3-2 in overtime. Dustin Tokarski tended goal for the Admirals stopping 38 of 41 shots faced, while his counter part Chris Holt earned first star honors stopping 36 of 38 in the match. Brandon Svendsen and Denis Hamel registered goals in regulation. Defensemen Brian Lee netted the game winner 1:31 into overtime, in only his second game back after battling a lower body injury.

Saturday, Jan. 2: Binghamton 3, Hershey 5

Shots: Binghamton 34, Hershey 29

PP: Binghamton 1 for 5, Hershey 0 for 4

In the B-Sens first tilt of 2010, they hit the road to face the Bears. In each of their four games played so far in the 2009-10 season the visiting team has gone undefeated. Hershey broke the mold Saturday though as they went on to beat the B-Sens in front of 10,506 fans at the Giant Center. Forward Cody Bass returned for his first game since Dec. 12 and put up two points (1 G - 1 A). Zack Smith and Martin St. Pierre would also record goals for the B-Sens. Chris Holt manned the pipes for the B-Sens in his second consecutive start, making 24 saves. Hershey's Keith Aucoin notched an empty net goal and added two assists against the B-Sens.

Record: 15-15-3-1

Standings: The B-Sens are fifth place in the East division (34 points)

THIS WEEK...

Friday, Jan. 8 vs. Portland Pirates (Buffalo Sabres)

The B-Sens play their first home game of 2010 versus the Atlantic Division's Portland Pirates this coming Friday. The last time the Pirates came through town was Dec. 8, 2008, when Denis Hamel scored the game winner as the B-Sens went on to defeat Portland 2-1. Binghamton is undefeated versus the Pirates on home ice, having gone 5-0 all-time. The Pirates come to town following a 4-0 victory over the Bruins in Providence on Jan. 3. Goaltender Jhonas Enroth stopped 39 shots to earn the shutout, his third of the season.

Saturday, Jan. 9 vs. Lowell Devils (New Jersey Devils)

The B-Sens play host the Lowell Devils for only the third time in franchise history and enter Saturday's game still looking for a win. Binghamton is 0-2 all-time versus the Devils. Lowell is currently ranked third in the Atlantic Division with a 21-14-3-0 record. The B-Sens are going to have to try and stay out of the penalty box versus the Devils as Lowell enters the week with the league lead on the power play scoring 42 goals on 178 chances (23.6%).

Promotions: The first 2,500 fans to Saturday's game will receive a B-Sens cooler bag courtesy of Amphenol.

Sunday, Jan. 10 @ Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers)

The B-Sens make the trip back up to Rochester, N.Y. for a Sunday evening match up versus the Amerks looking to rebound after falling to Rochester 5-3 back on Dec. 27. The Amerks have won three of four meetings with the B-Sens so far this season. The Amerks enter the week having dropped three straight matches, the last loss coming on Saturday, Jan. 2 as they fell to the East Division's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-3.

SENS SNIPPITS

B-Sens captain Denis Hamel will play in his 400th game as a Binghamton Senator this coming Friday versus Portland.

In case you missed it, forwards Martin St. Pierre and Ryan Keller have been named to the Canadian All-Star team for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic to be played next month at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. St. Pierre currently leads all B-Sens in points with 14 goals and 21 assists in 34 games played, while Keller has recorded 13 goals and 14 assists in 27 games with the B-Sens this season.

The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2010 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Monday, January 18 (8:00 p.m. ET), and the 2010 AHL All-Star Game on Tuesday, January 19 (6:00 p.m. ET). The event will be televised nationally in the United States and Canada.

Forward Kaspars Daugavins was named to the 2010 Latvian Olympic hockey team last week. He is one of two current American Hockey League players named to the squad. Martin Karsums of Norfolk also received the honor of being named to the team. In the month of December, Daugavins recorded four goals and four assists for eight points in 10 games played. Daugavins put up two multi-point performances within the month: Dec. 4 versus Syracuse and Dec. 19 at Norfolk he tallied one goal, one assist in each game. In 34 games played this season Daugavins has seven goals and 11 assists, ranking him seventh on the team overall in scoring.

The Binghamton Senators are selling tickets for the upcoming Outdoor Classic versus the Syracuse Crunch at the Grandstand at the New York State Fairground on Feb. 20, 2010. Tickets are $30 and $40. B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY...

Wednesday, Jan. 6 the B-Sens are hosting Max's Kids Club Party at the Discovery Center located at 60 Morgan Rd. in Binghamton. Geoff Kinrade, Erik Condra, Tomas Kudelka, Jim O'Brien, Andy Chiodo and Tim Spencer will be making an appearance to meet their young fans and sign autographs. The event is open to Max's Kids Club members only. Also Wednesday, Craig Schira and Derek Smith will join the Binghamton Senators' Booster Club for their monthly meeting at the Relief Pitcher where they will greet the boosters, answer questions and sign autographs.
