B-Mets Tee off in Series Finale, 5-2

BINGHAMTON, NY - Brian Burgamy belted a pair of two-run homers to lead the Binghamton Mets to a 5-2 win over the Trenton Thunder on Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. Dustin Lawley capped Binghamton's three-run home run attack and secured the four-game series split with his team-leading 18th long ball.

The B-Mets offense struck with force in the first inning against Dan Camarena. With Kyle Johnson on second, Burgamy launched the first pitch he saw into the rail yard beyond the left-field wall. The B-Mets first baseman snapped an 0-for-18 slump with his 16th home run of the season. Lawley followed in his footsteps and lined an 0-1 pitch just over the left-field fence, giving Binghamton a 3-0 lead.

Camarena settled down with three scoreless innings before Burgamy struck again in the fifth. After Dilson Herrera ripped his first triple as a B-Met to center, Burgamy blistered the first pitch he saw off the message board in left field, securing his fourth multiple-hit game of the season. The drive pushed Binghamton's lead to five.

The lead was plenty for Greg Peavey. The right-hander retired the first five Thunder batters he faced before surrendering a double to Tyler Austin. Peavey responded to the two-bagger by retiring 13 of the next 14 batters he faced.

Trenton compiled a threat in the seventh by putting the first two aboard via a hit batter and a single. Peavey bounced back with consecutive strikeouts before Francisco Arcia looped a single to shallow left. Rob Segedin scampered home from second with Trenton's first run before Gary Sanchez was nabbed at third on the play.

The Thunder made it a 5-2 game with another tally in the eighth against reliever Jack Leathersich. After a double play pushed Casey Stevenson to third, Ben Gamel lined a two-out RBI single to left, trimming Binghamton's lead to three.

Cody Satterwhite worked around a two-out single in a scoreless ninth, securing his eighth save of the season.

Peavey (7-1) allowed one run on four hits while collecting seven strikeouts over seven innings to earn the win. Camarena (0-3) was tagged for five runs on seven hits, including five for extra bases, in 4-2/3 innings in the defeat.

The B-Mets (60-40) start a week-long road trip by opening a three-game series against the first-place Portland Sea Dogs on Monday night at 7:00 PM. RHP Gabriel Ynoa takes the mound for Binghamton.
