Snapping a three game losing streak the Calgary Vipers (4-7) defeated the Edmonton Capitals (6-3) 11-1 at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. Starting pitching Manny Ayala (3-0) was not only good on the mound but also contributed offensively. On the bump Manny tossed six innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five and at the plate he collected two runs batted in on two hits including one double. Jumping onto the scoreboard early the Vipers broke open a 4-1 game in the fifth inning with six runs as they sent ten batters to the plate.

Out of the bullpen Canadian Shawn Hetherington tossed a scoreless inning with a strikeout, Scott Watson also threw a scoreless frame, and Saskatoon's Dan Morari pitched a three-up, three-down ninth inning to finish off the game. Daryl Arreola (0-1) took the loss in giving up nine earned runs in four innings pitched.

Offensively Jonny Kaplan and Bryan Burke led the way with Kaplan homering and walking twice while Burke walked three times to go along with a single.

Calgary jumped onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when Jonny Kaplan hit a leadoff home run followed by a Bryan Burke walk, Jimmy Rohan single, and a Drew Miller run batted in fielder's choice for a 2-0 advantage.

Edmonton cut the lead in half at 2-1 in the third as Cody Nowlin reached on a close play and Todd Linden drove him in with a RBI double.

The Vipers restored a two run lead at 3-1 in the bottom of the frame when Burke and Wilver Perez singled, Burke advanced to third base on a double-play, and he scored on a wild pitch.

Stretching their lead to 4-1 the Snakes scored in the fourth inning as Justin Tellam walked and with two outs pitcher Manny Ayala doubled for a RBI.

Calgary expanded the lead in the fifth inning with six runs for a 10-1 score. Perez walked, Rohan was hit by a pitch, Miller walked to load the bases, Tellam singled in two with a base hit, Louie Templeton singled to again load the sacks, Matt Kavanaugh walked for a RBI, Ayala singled in a run, Burke also walked for a RBI, and Ayala scored on a wild pitch to cap the six run frame.
