(June 6, 2011. San Ramon, CA) The North American Baseball League, one of the premier independent professional leagues on the continent, announced today that San Angelo Colts' first baseman Daryl Jones and Edmonton Capitals right-handed pitcher Lou Pote have been named the Rawlings Players of the week for the first week of the season.

San Angelo Colts first baseman Daryl Jones has been named the Rawlings North American League Player of the Week. The first week of the NAL season saw Jones belt 6 homeruns and drive in 16 runs, both of which lead the league. In addition, Jones is tied for the league lead in runs scored with 14. So far this season, the Colts first baseman is batting .367 and is showing no signs of slowing down as he is currently riding a 6 game hitting streak. The former 4th round pick of the San Diego Padres is one of the reasons the Colts are in second place in the Southern Division (6-6) and are currently riding a 4 game winning streak. Last year, Jones hit a combined .303 with 14 homeruns and 59 RBI playing for three different teams. He also has experience playing the Golden Baseball League as he spent time with the Long Beach Armada in 2009.

Edmonton Capitals starting pitcher Lou Pote has been named the Rawlings North American League Pitcher of the Week. The right hander is 2-0 and has a sparkling 0.64 ERA in two starts. In addition, he has 11 strikeouts through 14 innings pitched, and has given up just 8 hits in his two starts. Pote is a former Major League pitcher, having spent time with the Anaheim Angels from 1999-2002 and with the Cleveland Indians in 2004. He has been a mainstay in Edmonton's starting rotation since 2007. Pote's Capitals, winners of their last 3 games, are 6-2 on the year, good enough for second place in the Northern Division behind the Lake County Fielders (8-2).
