Aviators Take Two from Beach Bums, Now 6-0 to Start 2015 Season

The Rockford Aviators improved to 6-0 for the 2015 season by sweeping a doubleheader from the Traverse City Beach Bums (2-4) in Frontier League baseball action Thursday night at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL. Rockford captured the first game 7-3 before winning the nightcap 2-1 in a pair of seven inning contests.

Michael Hur (2), Anthony Renteria and Elijah Trail all homered in the opener to key a 10-hit attack for the Aviators, while Teo Martinez also went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Mike Holback (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Nick Grim, who limited the Beach Bums to just one runs on four hits in 4.2 innings.

The Aviators rode the strength of the long ball again in Game Two as Trail and Devon Rodriguez both homered to account for Rockford's offense. Righthander Kyle Brueggeman (2-0) pitched six strong innings to post the victory, allowing just one run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Colby Holmes worked the seventh to record his first save of the season.

Rockford travels to Marion, IL for a three game series v. the Southern Illinois Miners beginning with Friday"s contest at 7:05 pm. The Aviators return home to start a six game homestand against the Joliet Slammers on Tue. May 26 at 6:35 pm.
