Avengers, Galaxy Players Went Head-to-Head in "Dash for the Hungry"

LOS ANGELES - On Tuesday, linebacker Michael Craven, wide receiver/linebacker Nichiren Flowers, offensive lineman Matt McGhghy, defensive back Arnold Parker, "A-Team" dancers Chanada and Pennee along with Los Angeles Galaxy goalkeeper Joe Cannon, forward Landon Donovan, midfielder Cobi Jones and midfielder Kyle Martino spent the afternoon participating in the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank's and Albertsons "Dash for the Hungry" race in San Pedro. Even though the Avengers lost to the Galaxy, the two teams and Albertsons helped raise over $39,000 for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.
"We know and understand the importance of such an event and as role models in the community are more than happy to help out the Foodbank," McGhghy said. "The Avengers are proud to be apart of this event with the L.A. Regional Foodbank and look forward to doing it again next year."
The "Dash for the Hungry" was a race where the Los Angeles Avengers and the Los Angeles Galaxy "dashed" around Albertsons, pushing grocery carts and collecting food to feed the hungry. With only five minutes on the clock, the goal was to collect as much product as possible and raise plenty of money to benefit families and residents who rely on the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank for assistance.

The Los Angeles Avengers will host the Utah Blaze in the first round of the 2007 Arena Football League Playoffs on Monday, July 2. Kickoff at STAPLES Center is set for
7 p.m. (PT).
The contest will be televised live on ESPN2.
