San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes and the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today that the PLL will host week eight of its regular season at Avaya Stadium in San Jose from August 10-11. San Jose is the eighth host city to be announced by the PLL following Boston, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. Ticketing information will be announced at a later date.
"The Earthquakes organization is proud to have hosted such a diverse slate of events over the years and are excited to now welcome the Premier Lacrosse League," said Earthquakes Chief Operating Officer Jared Shawlee. "It's always a pleasure to host the best athletes in their respective sport and we're looking forward to the competition."
"Lacrosse popularity has grown at a fevered pace over the past decade along the California coast," says Mike Rabil, PLL Chief Executive Officer. "The Bay Area, and San Jose in particular, is a natural fit when we considered what we look for in a host city: fan desire for a tough, fast-moving sport and a state-of-the-art facility that will bring viewers as close as they can get to the action. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue PLL's West Coast swing in Northern California."
PLL action kicks off June 1 and brings 150 of the world's best players to 13 U.S. cities throughout the summer. A total of 16 games will be televised live by NBC Sports through the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN). Additionally three games will be shown on NBC, all of which will also be streamed via authentication on NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app. NBC Sports Gold - NBC Sports' direct-to-consumer live streaming product powered by Playmaker Media - will also live-stream 20 games exclusively for its subscribers.
