DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed defenseman Ryan Wilson to a three-year contract through the 2014-15 season.
"Ryan brings an element that compliments our defense," said Avalanche General Manager/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. "We are pleased to sign him to a multi-year deal and look forward to seeing him at camp."
Wilson, 25, appeared in 59 games for the Avalanche this past season, tallying 21 points (1g/20a) with a +11 plus/minus rating. His 20 assists were a career best, while his 21 points matched his personal high set in 2009-10. Wilson led all team defensemen and ranked second overall on the Avalanche in plus/minus. The Windsor, Ontario native finished second among Colorado defensemen in assists and was third in scoring.
Acquired from Calgary on March 4, 2009, Wilson has recorded 58 points (7g/51a) and 137 penalty minutes in 187 career games in the NHL.
In addition to Wilson, the Avalanche also announced today the signings of forwards Patrick Bordeleau and David Van Der Gulik each to a one-year contract through 2012-13.
