VIP Cup Logo Contest Begins Today

Portland, Maine - For the upcoming 20th Anniversary Season, the Portland Pirates and Manchester Monarchs have partnered with VIP Parts, Tires & Service to compete for the inaugural VIP Cup. To commemorate this championship series, the Pirates, Monarchs, and VIP Parts, Tires & Service are asking the fans to create the VIP Cup logo.

Fans will be able to download a template with the Pirates, Monarchs, and VIP Parts, Tires & Service logos on it to create and design the logo. The templates, official rules, and submission details can be downloaded on the web pages of the Pirates (www.portlandpirates.com) and Monarchs ( www.manchestermonarchs.com), or at each team's Facebook page. Logos may be submitted via mail, email or through either team's Facebook page starting Monday, June 25th. The contest will end on Friday, July 13.

Four logos will be selected as finalists, and fans will then get to choose which logo will become the official VIP Cup logo for the rivalry series. The four finalists will each receive four tickets to a VIP Cup game of their choice in either Portland or Manchester. The artist whose logo is selected will win four tickets to all VIP Cup games, have the honor of dropping the puck before one of the games in Manchester or Portland, and will win a VIP Parts, Tires and Service $100 gift card.

This will be the 12th season of the Portland vs. Manchester rivalry. In 114 all-time meetings, the two sides are separated by just eight wins (Manchester with 58 wins, Portland with 50, and there have been six ties). The two franchises' parent teams recently met in the NHL Western Conference finals this season, with the Los Angeles Kings topping the Phoenix Coyotes on the way to their first Stanley Cup title.

Game dates for the VIP Cup will be released later this summer.
