
Avalanche Recall Goaltender Spencer Martin

SAN ANTONIO- The Colorado Avalanche announced today that goaltender Spencer Martin has been recalled from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). In addition, the San Antonio Rampage have recalled goaltender Kent Simpson from the Colorado Eagles (ECHL). Martin's third call up to the NHL serves as Colorado's 12th recall from San Antonio this season. He looks to make his NHL debut as he joins former Rampage players Cody Goloubef, Calvin Pickard, Nikita Zadorov, Andreas Martinsen, and Mikko Rantanen in Colorado. Martin was selected to the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 5, becoming the first Rampage goaltender to do so in franchise history. Martin, 21, has appeared in 27 games with San Antonio this season, earning a 15-9-2-0 record, .915 save percentage and 2.62 goals-against average between the pipes. The second-year pro is tied with Rochester's Linus Ullmark for the second-most wins this season, and holds the fifth-best rookie goals against average. Simpson has appeared in five games with the Rampage during the 2016-17 campaign, recording an .864 save percentage and 3.71 goals-against average. He has played nine games with the Eagles this season, registering one shutout on Oct. 21 against the Alaska Aces, a .908 save percentage and 2.70 goals-against average. San Antonio returns to the AT&T Center on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. contest against the Manitoba Moose. Friday's game will also be a Bud Light KISS 99.5 $1 Drink Night.
