Austin, TX March 23, 2014- The Austin Toros came up short 111-119 in a close contest with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants Sunday afternoon at Cedar Park Center.
Toros' Flip Murray led all scorers with 35 points. Courtney Fells added 20 points, along with nine rebounds. Greg Gantt (13) and Terrence Woodbury (11) contributed double-digits off the bench.
The Toros kept the game close in the first quarter 33-34 and took the lead in the second with strong shooting from Fells (10) and Terrance Woodbury (8). Austin took a 70-54 lead into the half. The Toros led by as many as 14 points in the third behind Flip Murray's 13 points. Tony Mitchell scored 15 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter and the Mad Ants shot 52.9% to the Toros 33.3% from the field, helping them to overtake the Toros.
Fort Wayne was paced by Tony Mitchell with 32 points and five rebounds. Ron Howard added 19 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
The Austin Toros (17-28) host the Iowa Energy March 27. The Ft. Wayne Mad Ants (29-16) return home to play the Springfield Armor March 28.
