Austin Spurs to Host Annual Hoops for Troops & Raros Nights this Weekend

AUSTIN - The Austin Spurs, presented by SWBC, will partner with Comfort Crew to raise awareness on the challenges that kids go through when part of a military family during their annual Hoops for Troops game on Friday, Jan. 20 as Austin takes on the Ontario Clippers at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Silver and Black will host their second Raros game of the year, themed "tighty whitie giveaway." To help keep Austin weird, the first 100 fans in attendance can claim their own pair of Raros-themed underwear. Fans are encouraged to bring clean, unopened packages of underwear that will be donated to the local homeless community. Tip off for Saturday's game against the Clippers is slated for 7 p.m.

The themed jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, on DASHwith bidding starting on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m., running through Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. with proceeds benefiting Comfort Crew. Comfort Crew is an Austin non-profit whose mission is to deliver proven resources to help military kids and their families connect and build resiliency in the face of extraordinary challenges, such as dealing with deployment of a parent, reconnecting after a long separation period, having a parent return with a visible and/or inviable injury, or experiencing grief over the loss of a family member.

Los Raros return on Saturday night with the tighty whitie giveaway. Tighty whitie night is aimed to bring consciousness to the Austin homeless community and the high demand for clean underwear. Fans who bring a pair of clean, unopened underwear will receive two free tickets to any future Austin game. Bins will be located by the box office for fans to drop off their donations. The Raros jerseys worn on Saturday will also be auctioned off in March after the Raros schedule with proceeds benefiting the Mexic-Arte Museum.
