PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Austin Spurs (16-13), presented by SWBC, defeated the Northern Arizona Suns (8-22) by a final score of 117-108 on the road Wednesday night.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Luka Samanic posted 21 points and 14 rebounds in 29 minutes in tonight's win. Dedric Lawson recorded 16 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in 37 minutes, while Quinndary Weatherspoon contributed 17 points, 7 assists and 4 steals in 28 minutes. Four other Austin players scored in double figures: Galen Robinson Jr. (17), Angel Rodriguez (16), Jeff Ledbetter (11) and Daulton Hommes (10).
The Suns gained an early 3-2 advantage, which ended up being their only lead of the game. The Spurs ended the first quarter up 32-16 and had a 60-51 edge at the half.
The Spurs took their largest lead of the game (83-56) with just under five and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Suns came within six points (94-88) with eight minutes left in the fourth and seven points (108-101) at the 2:24 mark but were unable to overcome their deficit.
For Northern Arizona, Ike Nwamu put up 26 points and 4 rebounds in 31 minutes. Aaron Epps added 23 points and 6 rebounds.
