Austin Spurs Outlast the OKC Blue

Cedar Park, TX - The Austin Spurs defeated the OKC Blue in a close overtime win, 119-117 at the SWBC Court at Cedar Park Center Saturday night.

Austin Spurs guard Bryce Cotton led the team in scoring with a new season best 34 points. OKC's leading scorers were guard Semaj Christon and center Mitch McGary, who each tallied 19 points.

The first quarter saw five lead changes and three ties prior to the Austin Spurs ending the quarter on top 26-23. Cotton led the team scoring eight, two from the three-point arc.

The Austin Spurs led by as many as 12 in the second quarter, again with Cotton pacing the team with 10 points and strong support from Jonathan Simmons who added eight points and two assists. The Austin Spurs led 61-49 at halftime.

The OKC Blue chipped away at the deficit, tying the game once at the two minute mark, 81-81, but a reverse lay-up and made free throw by Cotton helped the team maintain its lead heading into the fourth.

Both teams battled back and forth throughout the fourth quarter with OKC outscoring the Austin Spurs 23-17, but with 9.3 seconds left in regulation Cotton made one of two free throws, and a missed buzzer beater attempt by OKC's Semaj Christon sent the game into overtime, 107-107.

The Austin Spurs were able to hold off the OKC Blue in overtime led by the efforts of center JaMychal Green who contributed six of twelve total points scored in the period.

Six Austin Spurs finished in double digit scoring. Green (20 points, 15 rebounds) and Davis (14 points, 13 rebounds) both posted double doubles on the night.

The Austin Spurs (4-3) host the Texas Legends Tuesday, December 9th at 11:00am on the SWBC court at the Cedar Park Center. The Blue (3-5) return home to take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Wednesday, December 10th at 7:00pm.
