
Austin Spurs Fight off OKC Blue

Cedar Park, TX December 14 - The Austin Spurs shut out the OKC Blue 109-99 at the SWBC Court at Cedar Park Center Sunday afternoon, extending their winning streak to eight games.
Austin Spurs were led by JaMychal Green, (30 points, 8 rebounds); Atlanta Hawks assignee Adreian Payne posted a double double (20 points, 10 rebounds) helping to seal the team's victory. Talib Zanna (22 points, 9 rebounds) paced the way for the OKC Blue.
Both teams came out firing in the first quarter. Austin Spurs guard Bryce Cotton downed a jumper just under the 11-minute mark, followed by guard Orlando Johnson playing tight defense, causing an OKC turnover. OKC stayed close with guard Michael Jenkins and forward Josh Huestis each downing threes, and Talib Zanna pocketing an additional six points. Cotton and Johnson utilized the Austin Spurs big men (JaMychal Green, Josh Davis, Adreian Payne), as they combined for a total of 16 points, helping Austin maintain the lead at the end of the first, 20-16.
Oklahoma wouldn't back down in the second, taking the lead at the ten-minute mark on a Huestis three point basket. Nine lead changes occurred throughout the quarter with OKC holding onto a slight lead heading into halftime, 44-43.
The back and forth continued in the third. The Austin Spurs shot 63.2% and Oklahoma followed close, shooting 57.1%. At the end of the period, the teams were knotted up at 76.
The Austin Spurs finished the game strong, going on a 21-4 run in the last seven minutes of the final quarter.
The Austin Spurs (8-3) host the Canton Charge Friday, December 19th at 7:30pm, for their annual Season of Giving game. The Blue (4-7) travel to Santa Cruz to take on the Warriors Wednesday, December 17th at 9:00pm.
