Santa Cruz Warriors News Release
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Erie BayHawks 103-84 on Saturday at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
James Michael McAdoo exploded on offense to lead the team to victory, recording a team-high 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots. Elliot Williams notched a double-double, scoring 24 points and dishing out 10 assists. Joe Alexander knocked down 19 points and grabbed 9 boards, while Aaron Craft added 15 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals.
Erie was without former Warrior, Seth Curry, in a game-time decision which gave guard Jarvis Williams the start. The BayHawks were paced by Drew Crawford who tallied 32 points and 9 rebounds. Peyton Siva recorded the only double-double for Erie, with 11 points and 10 assists. Despite five players scoring in double-figures, the effort was not enough to back a win for the BayHawks. Coming off of Friday night's loss to the Austin Spurs, the Warriors were eager to race ahead with a balanced scoring effort early in the first quarter, putting the Warriors up 12-2 in under four minutes of play. The BayHawks rallied back to force a tie by the end of the first period, but the second quarter would see Erie try to stay with Santa Cruz to no avail. The BayHawks succumbed to an explosive Santa Cruz offense led by Elliot Williams that gave the Warriors a 12-point edge heading into halftime.
The Warriors would never relinquish their hold over the BayHawks, leading by as much as 20 points in the fourth quarter. Santa Cruz outshot the Warriors (50.8%-36.6%), had more fast break points (18-16), had more assists (29-17), and had more blocked shots (13-3). Erie held the edge on rebounds (47-40), had more points in the paint (46-30), and tallied more second chance points (27-2).
The Santa Cruz Warriors will host the Oklahoma City Blue on Wednesday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m. Pacific. Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or catch the game on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, via www.santacruzbasketball.com.
