Austin FC Signs Brazilian Defender Guilherme Biro

Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced today that the Club has reached an agreement with Brazilian side Mirassol Futebol Clube for the transfer of 23-year-old defender Guilherme Biro (full name Guilherme da Trindade Dubas). Biro (pronounced "bee-roo") joins the Verde & Black on a three-year guaranteed contract through the end of the 2026 season, with an option for 2027.
"I'm excited to join Austin FC and to compete in MLS as the next step in my career," said Biro. "I look forward to moving to a new country, meeting the fans, and playing at Q2 Stadium for the first time."
Biro, a native of Curitiba, Brazil, spent the 2023 season with Mirassol. Playing primarily as a left back, Biro recorded 45 clearances, 42 interceptions, and 21 tackles won, helping Mirassol concede the second-fewest goals in Série B. He contributed two (2) goals, three (3) assists, and 25 chances created at the attacking end of the field.
Biro also made 12 appearances for Mirassol in the Campeonato Paulista Série A1, the top professional state football league in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, and two (2) in the Troféu Independência.
Biro previously played for Coritiba Foot Ball Club from 2020 to 2022, where he made 72 appearances across all competitions, including 23 in Série A, the Brazilian national topflight. In 2021 Biro played in 33 of Coritiba's 38 Série B matches, recording a goal and an assist as the team finished third and earned promotion.
"Guilherme is coming off some remarkable seasons in the top leagues in Brazil. He adds quality and flexibility to our back line," said Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell.
Biro will travel to Austin upon receipt of his P-1 visa and International Trade Certificate (ITC). He will occupy Senior and International designations on the Austin FC roster.
