Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced Thursday that the Club has entered a partnership with the famed Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. The new multiyear partnership between Austin FC and PSV Eindhoven will feature the two clubs exchanging knowledge and expertise on scouting, education, player development, and more.
"We're very excited to partner with a club as well-respected in world football as PSV Eindhoven," said Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. "Working together and sharing ideas about player and coaching development is sure to benefit both clubs as we look to continuously improve the sporting side of our clubs through new and innovative ways of improving our soccer methodologies."
One of the most successful and well-known clubs in the Netherlands, PSV Eindhoven has won the Dutch Eredivisie title 24 times, the Dutch Cup 10 times, and the Johan Cruyff Shield a record 13 times. Eindhoven has also won two (2) European trophies: the European Cup (today known as the UEFA Champions League) in 1988, and the UEFA Cup (today known as the UEFA Europa League) in 1978.
PSV Eindhoven ranks among the world's best in developing talented young soccer players, playing a key role in the careers of many future stars, including current head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo Nazário, and Arjen Robben.
In August 2022, players and coaching staff from the Austin FC Academy traveled to the Netherlands for 10 days, where PSV Eindhoven hosted Austin FC's U-17 team for a series of training sessions and friendly matches, including matchups vs. PSV Eindhoven's U-16 and U-17 Academy teams. The partnership will see similar opportunities for both clubs in the future.
