Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Savannah, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (32-23) were blanked by the Savannah Sand Gnats (24-31) Saturday night, 4-0. Starter T.J. Brewer suffered the loss and Augusta dropped its second straight to Savannah on the current road trip.

The Sand Gnats did all the scoring they needed in the fourth inning when Jose Jimenez connected for a three-run homer to left field to give Savannah a 3-0 lead. It was Jimenez's seventh homer of the season. The inning began with back-to-back singles from Richard Pena and Casey Craig.

Savannah got another run in the eighth inning off reliever Dan Runzlier when Craig came through with a one-out RBI single for a 4-0 advantage.

Brewer (3-4) worked six innings and allowed three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two.

Augusta had a chance in the fifth inning to get on the board when Matt Klimas doubled with two outs and Charlie Culberson followed with a single but James Simmons popped out to end the half inning.

The GreenJackets had another chance in the sixth inning when they loaded the bases up with two outs but Brock Bond grounded out to end the half inning.

The GreenJackets finish up their road trip and series with Savannah Sunday afternoon looking for the split. Augusta sends lefty Craig Clark (4-0, 4.27) to the mound against the Sand Gnats left-hander Mike Antonini (4-2, 2.51). First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
