Augusta pounded out 16 hits and got the better half of the much anticipated battle of former UNCA stars as the GreenJackets rolled to 9-1 victory over Asheville Friday night at McCormick Field.
Former UNCA star Alan DeRatt drew the start for Asheville and went five innings while allowing 8 hits and four runs and was charged with the loss in his season debut with the Tourists. His former Bulldog teammate Justin Schumer notched his fourth victory of the season by scattering two hits and holding Asheville scoreless over four innings of relief work.
The same two teams will meet on Sunday at McCormick Field in a 6:05 p.m. start.
