Layshia Clarendon led the way for Minnesota with 18 points, five assists and two rebounds. This marks their 18th career game with 15+ points and 5+ assists. Of his 18 points, 11 of them came in the first quarter after she shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the field.
Crystal Dangerfield finished the night with 16 points, three assists and one steal in 13:31 minutes off the bench. Of her 16 points, nine of them came in the fourth quarter and she once again leads Minnesota in fourth quarter scoring (70 points). In 23 games played during the 2020 WNBA season, she led the team in the same category scoring 129 fourth quarter points.
In her first game since June 12, Aerial Powers finished the night with 10 points, her third 10+ point performance of the season.
After moving into 13th on the WNBA's all-time scoring list on August 19th at Connecticut, Sylvia Fowles scored 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks and is now tied for 12th all-time with Candace Parker (5857). This marks her seventh game of the season tallying at least three blocks.
Team Notes
As a team, the Lynx shot 54.0% from the field (34-of-63), making this the eighth time this season they have shot 50% or better from the field.
Minnesota scored a season-high 101 points in tonight's victory, marking the 21st time in franchise history they have scored 100+ points in a regular season game (second time this season).
Of the teams 101 points, 33 of them came in the first quarter, tying the team's season high set on July 9th at Las Vegas. Minnesota also set a season-high in fourth quarter points with 29.
With tonight's victory, the Lyn have now extended their win streak on the road against Chicago to four games, three at Wintrust Arena and one in Bradenton, FL.
Minnesota outrebound Chicago 33-23, the sixth time this year they have outrebounded an opponent by double-figure. In those six games, the Lynx hold a 6-0 record.
The Lynx had six players score in double figures against Chicago (Clarendon - 18, Dangerfield - 16, McBride - 16, Fowles - 15, Collier - 14 and Powers - 10), marking the second time this season that six Minnesota players scored 10+ points in the same game (July 7th vs Dallas).
Minnesota attempted 33 free throws tonight, setting a season-high on free throw attempts. The previous high was 27 also against Chicago on June 15.
Sky Notes
Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley put up a game-high 27 points each. Vandersloot added eight assists, marking the 16th time this season she has dished out at least eight assists.
