
Audi Field Announce Update to Capital Cup Tournament and Final Schedule

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Audi Field have today announced that Club Puebla will no longer participate in the inaugural Capital Cup tournament due to health and safety protocols.
The withdrawal of Club Puebla from the first edition of the international soccer tournament will result in a modification of the format. The remaining three teams, D.C. United (United States), Alianza FC (El Salvador), and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (Costa Rica) will play each other once over the previously scheduled match dates.
An updated full match schedule for the inaugural Capital Cup at Audi Field follows. Please note that kick-off times have also been slightly adjusted as a result of the modification in tournament format. Tickets for all matches can be found here.
Wednesday, July 7
- 8:00 p.m. EST - D.C. United vs. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense
Sunday, July 11
- 5:30 p.m. EST - D.C. United vs. Alianza FC
Wednesday, July 14
- 8:00 p.m. EST - Alianza FC vs. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense
The team with the most points at the conclusion of the tournament will be crowned the first-ever Capital Cup Champions. If two teams are level on points, the following tiebreaker rules take effect in the order below to determine the winner. If multiple teams are still unable to be separated, then the trophy will be shared.
- Highest goal difference
- Most goals scored
- Head-to-head result between the teams level on points
