Aubin Dominant, Errors Costly in Loss vs Mavs
June 15, 2016 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Brockton Rox News Release
Both the Seacoast Mavericks and the Brockton Rox entered tonights matchup with a 6-5 record. Brockton was the team that fell victim to sloppy play and fell back to .500 on the season.
Mavericks pitcher Casey Aubin was special, going 6 innings while allowing 4 hits and just one earned run. His teams offense and Brockton's miscues helped him the entire game.
You wouldn't be able to tell how well Brockton's Eric Keating pitched based on the scoreboard. Keating pitched the first 3 innings where Seacoast put 4 runs on the board. However, only 1 was earned. Two throwing errors by Bailey Klein allowed the Mavs to stretch their 1-0 second inning lead to 4 after the third inning.
Brockton closed the gap to 3 when newcomer Chris Berry had a leadoff triple and on deck batter Brett McManus brought him home with a sac fly.
But Seacoast continued to pour it on. A 4 run 6th inning made it a 8-1 ballgame, with both sloppy play and timely hitting. Jeremiah led off the inning by reaching safely with an error at short. A walk to Kyle Vesnesky and a follow up double by Frankely Gonzalez began the big inning. The Mavericks almost batted around the order when the 8th batter of the inning, Marshall Gei, hit a sac fly to score their last run of the inning and 8th run of the game.
Each team would score one more run to make the final score 9-2.
The Rox (6-6) look to get back to their winning ways as they take on the Worcester Bravehearts tomorrow night. The Rox return to Campanelli Stadium on Friday night to welcome the Pittsfield Suns. First pitch is at 7:05. Come and enjoy our Friday Fireworks after the ballgame!
