Windsor Spitfires News Release

Andrew Shaw scored on a breakaway with just 2:45 remaining, as the Owen Sound Attack escaped the WFCU Centre with a 6-4 win on Thursday night.

The line of Joey Hishon, Garrett Wilson and Andrew Fritsch did plenty of damage, with a combined seven points.

Jordan Binnington made 27 saves for the win.

Ryan Ellis had a goal and three assists and Alexander Khokhlachev had a pair of goals in a losing cause for Windsor, which suffered its third loss in as many tries to Owen Sound this season.

The Spitfires battled back from deficits of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3 to pull even at 4-4 on an Ellis power play goal early in the third period.

But a late turnover at the Attack blueline sent Shaw in alone on a breakaway for the winner.

Brayden Rose added an empty netter for Owen Sound (36-15-0-2), which extended its lead over Saginaw to six points atop the Western Conference.

The Spitfires (28-18-2-3) failed to close any ground on the Plymouth Whalers in their pursuit of fourth in the conference.

Jack Campbell was pulled from the Windsor goal for the second time in three games, after allowing three goals in the first 18 minutes.
