Owen Sound Attack News Release
A new Ontario Hockey League Season brings excitement, hope and also expectations for the Owen Sound Attack, who are expected to battle at the top end of the Western Conference.
The Attack will open their 2012/2013 OHL Season in Windsor this evening when they take on the Spitfires. The Attack are returning 19 players from their 2011/2012 roster, not including defenseman Nathan Chiarlitti who has been named as an Assistant Captain and goaltender Brandon Hope. Both Chiarlitti and Hope were acquired in separate transactions from the Sarnia Sting.
Forwards Artur Gavrus (undisclosed) and Jarrod Maidens (Upper Body) will not be in the lineup this evening.
Attack @ Windsor - The Spitfires are expected to make a little noise in the Western Conference this season after declaring they are building for another title run in 2013/2014. After back to back Memorial Cup Championships in 2009 and 2010 and a Western Conference Final birth in 2011, the Spitfires spent a year rebuilding in 2012, finishing 8th in the Western Conference.
Look Out For - Spitfire forward Kerby Rychel has proved he can shoot the lights out. In only his second season in the OHL last year, Rychel lead the Spitfires in scoring with 74 points, while tallying 41 goals. The son of Windsor General Manager Warren Rychel is expected to be a top tier draft pick in the NHL next summer.
Last Season: Owen Sound: 32-29-3-4 (6th in Western Conference) Windsor: 29-32-5-2 (8th in Western Conference)
