
Attack get better of Spirit, 4-1

(Owen Sound, ON) -- The Saginaw Spirit ran into a hot Owen Sound Attack team Saturday night as the Attack downed the Spirit 4-1. Owen Sound jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, on goals from forwards Kevin Baker and Robin Big Snake. Big Snake's goal was on the power play.
Saginaw cut the lead to 2-1 at the half-way mark of the second period, when forward Gary Klapkowski banged in a Jesse Gimblett rebound. Gimblett carried the puck to the Owen Sound goal mouth before being shaken off the puck.
Owen Sound responded three minutes later when forward Bobby Ryan scored. The Attack put their fourth goal late in the third period, during a 4-4 exchange.
Spirit goaltender Mike Brown turned back 42 shots in the contest. The loss takes Saginaw's record to 2-5-1-2 on the season. Saginaw returns to action Sunday afternoon at the Hershey Centre versus the defending Eastern Conference Champion Mississauga Ice Dogs. Saginaw returns home Friday, October 22nd versus the Belleville Bulls at the Dow Event Center.
