Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack has traded their 1st round selection (7th overall) in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, Sault Ste. Marie's 2nd round selection in the 2010 draft (Wayne Simmonds deal) and Kitchener's 3rd round selection in 2009 (Scott Tregunna deal) to the Windsor Spitfires for Forward Garrett Wilson, Windsor's 4th round selection in 2010 and their own 2nd round selection in 2009 (Josh Bailey deal).
Wilson, a 3rd round selection of the Windsor Spitfires in the 2007 draft suited up for the Tecumseh Chiefs of the Western Ontario Hockey League and notched 11 goals, 26 assists for 37 points in 46 games played. The 6'02, 190lb, Elmvale native really showed his potential when he lead the Chiefs in playoff scoring registering 13 goals, and 8 assists along with 22 penalty minutes in just 14 games played.
Attack General Manager Dale DeGray made it known his first round selection in the Import Draft was available after he had announced that both Milan Doczy and Ondrej Pekarik would be returning to the team for the 2008/2009 season. "Milan and Ondrej are both important pieces of the puzzle for next season and proved they can play at a high level. By keeping them and making our import pick available, it allowed us to add youth, size and skill all in one shot."
