Atlanta Dream Announce Updated 2020 Schedule

BRADENTON - The Atlanta Dream will open the 2020 WNBA Season against the Dallas Wings Sunday, July 26 beginning at 5 p.m. ET, the team announced Monday. The game will take place in Bradenton, Florida at IMG Academy, the Official Home of the 2020 WNBA Season, and will include a 22-game schedule.
The Dream will face each WNBA opponent twice during the abbreviated season with 11 games as the designated home team and 11 as the away team. Seven of Atlanta's games will air on national television, including three on ESPN2 and four on CBS Sports Network.
"Every year the schedule in this league is challenging because of the quality of players and teams in the W," said head coach Nicki Collen, "but we are all facing the same unique challenges of playing in an environment with no fans, tight turnarounds and rosters changes. I'm excited to get started and see how our team gels and grows."
The Dream's schedule is packed with 22 games in 47 days, including a stretch of eight Dream games in 16 days between August 2 - August 16. Fans will witness a sprint to the finish line before eight teams participate in the traditional WNBA Playoff structure.
During the opening weekend, when all 12 teams will be in action, all aspects of the game and player outfitting will be designed to affirm Black Lives Matter and honor victims of police brutality and racial violence.
"The coaches and players are excited to finally have a schedule to prepare for," said President and General Manager Chris Sienko. "It has been a long offseason, and we realize that we are fortunate to play this wonderful game for our fans. While we wish we were in Atlanta, this will be a unique chance to play against everyone on the same floor all season long. Our 10 new team members have bonded quickly, and we are excited to start playing the games!"
Returnees Elizabeth Williams and Monique Billings lead head coach Nicki Collen's squad. The overhauled roster will feature a brand new group of players wearing the Dream red and gray, including 2020 No. 4 overall draft pick Chennedy Carter, free agent veterans Shekinna Stricklen and Glory Johnson and Courtney Williams, who Atlanta acquired in an offseason trade from Connecticut.
This season marks the organization's 13th in the WNBA. The Dream have qualified for the playoffs nine times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
