Washington Mystics News Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The WNBA has announced today that Washington Mystics All-Star guard Ariel Atkins has been selected to compete in the 2022 MTN Dew 3-PT Contest. The two-time All-Star becomes the fourth player in Mystics history to compete in the three-point contest, joining Kristi Toliver (2018), Monique Currie (2010) and Laurie Koehn who won the competition in 2007. The event on Saturday, July 9th, will be part of the AT&T WNBA All-Star 2022 weekend festivities at McCormick Place in Chicago (3:00 pm on ESPN).

Atkins' 49 three-point field goals made this season rank as the eighth-most in the WNBA, and she is one of five players to have totaled at least 45 three-pointers while shooting 37% or better from three-point range. Additionally, Atkins, who ranks second in franchise three-point field goals made with 255, became the youngest player in Mystics history to reach 200 three-points made, doing so on May 22 vs. Chicago.

Earlier this season, Atkins became the only Mystics player in franchise history to have totaled 40+ three-pointers in five or more seasons. She also joins Kelsey Mitchell (IND) as the only players in the league to have totaled at least 40 three-point field goals in every season since 2018.
