Metairie, LA â The New Orleans Zephyrs, the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Houston Astros is pleased to announce that outfielder Jason Lane has been recalled by Houston. To make room for Lane on the roster, the Astros have optioned outfielder Colin Porter to the Zephyrs.
Lane, 26, hit ..295 (72x244) with seven home runs and 39 RBI in 70 games for the Zephyrs this season. In 44 games for the Astros in 2002, Lane hit .290 (20x69) with four homers and 10 RBI.
The 27-year old Porter hit .207 (6x29) with two runs scored in 15 games for Houston this season.
The Zephyrs remain 4 ½ games behind first place Nashville in the PCL East Division. The Zephyrs open a ten game road trip on Tuesday at 7:05 with the first of five games against the Memphis Redbirds.
