Astros Farmhands Ready For Fall Ball

SOLAR HOOKS - The Mesa Solar Sox open play in the Arizona Fall League tomorrow and feature eight Astros farmhands, including six who played at Corpus Christi in 2007. Mesa, managed by Hooks skipper Dave Clark, is staffed by pitchers Jimmy Barthmaier, Brad James and Josh Muecke, along with shortstop Tommy Manzella and center fielder Josh Flores. Former Hook and Astros standout J.R. Towles and Chad Reineke of Round Rock are also Mesa-bound. Outfielder Mitch Einertson, named the 2007 Carolina League MVP, rounds out the Houston contingent.

Astros General Manager Ed Wade plans to visit Arizona on October 15 to begin an evaluation process. Teams play six days a week at five stadiums in the greater Phoenix Area. The league championship game is November 17. Monitor cchooks.com for updates.
