Tri-City Dust Devils 1B Ryan Nicholson has been named Northwest League (NWL) Player of the Month for April 2025, Minor League Baseball announced Monday.

The lefty slugger, the Los Angeles Angels' 10th round 2024 draft pick, played in all but one of his team's 23 games in April, hitting .360 (27-75) with four home runs and 16 RBI in helping Tri-City both to a winning April and the thick of the NWL First Half race.

Nicholson provided both power and consistency in the middle of the order for manager Dann Bilardello's squad, grabbing hits in 19 of his 22 games played and reaching base in his first 21 games wearing a Dust Devils uniform. He also held the NWL lead in several offensive categories, including batting average, doubles (8), on-base percentage (.495), slugging percentage (.627) and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.122). He also drew more walks (18) than times he struck out (16), showing a disciplined and keen eye at the plate.

The former Cincinnati Bearcat and Kentucky Wildcat already has one NWL award, winning Player of the Week honors for his efforts In Tri-City's series at Eugene April 8th-13th. He hit .450 (9-20) for the week, launching a home run and driving in eight runs while amassing a 1.371 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage). The 2024 10th round selection of the Angels reached base in 16 of his 28 plate appearances and doubled four times during the six-game road split.

Tri-City does not have to go far back for its last NWL Player of the Month. Infielder Chad Stevens won the honor in July 2024 after taking back-to-back Player of the Week awards in a torrid stretch at the plate that ultimately earned him promotion to Double-A Rocket City. Stevens' hot hitting continued through the season, with him finishing at Triple-A Salt Lake in 2024 and having a great year so far for the Bees in 2025.

Nicholson and the Dust Devils, after a road series in Everett, return to Gesa Stadium for a six-game series with the Hillsboro Hops beginning, Tuesday, May 13th at 6:30 p.m. For tickets for the next home series, and for all 2025 Dust Devils home games, visit the official ticket site, dustdevilsbaseball.com.
