Arkansas Sneaks Away With A Win

North Little Rock, AR 6/20/09 - After losing their last 2 games and wanting to change their luck this week at home against versus the Amarillo Dusters, Arkansas came out on top 63-62. Arkansas won the coin toss and chose to defer until 2nd half. Amarillo had the ball first and wasted no time scoring on 37 yard pass from Dusters quarterback Julian Reese to receiver Alex Watson.

On the Twisters first possession quarterback Kyle Rowley even the score with a 20 yard pass to Cameron Kinard. Amarillo scored on a 2 yard run by Carlos Downey. In the final minutes of the first quarter, Rowley found a new receiver Aaron Fairooz.

Rowley found Fairooz again on a 11 yard pass to give the Twisters a 21-14 lead. Dusters struck back with a 24 yard pass to DuVaugh Flager. In the final minute before halftime, Twisters scored twice on a 27 yard pass to Fairooz as time expired on 20 yard catch to Cameron Kinard. The Twisters led by a touchdown going into halftime.

The halftime was a show with the Pastors Choir bringing Twisters fan to their feet to start the 2nd half. Amarillo scored twice in the 3rd on a 20 yard and a 5 yard pass to Flager to tie the game at 42.

The fourth quarter started with a touchdown by the Dusters to give them the lead 48-42. Twisters struck back with by finding Fairooz. The Dusters were able to capitalize on the interception with a touchdown to Watson. Duster were successful on the 2 point conversion. The Twisters came back on a touchdown completed to Chad Cook. The extra kick was good to bring the game tied at 56 with less than a minute left in the game. Arkansas went for the onside kick which was recovered by Duster's Kyle Wilson. Twisters quickly scored on a pass to Fairooz and the extra kick was good. Dusters came back with a touchdown completed to Xavier Hair. Dusters needed the 2 point to win the game. The pass was deflected by Twisters Brandon Freeman.

The Twisters (8-4) will be on the road next week to take on the Rio Grande Valley Dorado's. The Twisters will return to Alltel Arena July 11th to take on the Corpus Christi Sharks. Tickets are available by calling 501-975-5425.
