Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
Corpus Christi Sharks Vice President and General Manager Larry Linde announced that QB John De Los Santos has been assigned to the af2 franchise. The former Mood High School standout arrived in Corpus Christi last week in time for the team's road trip to Oklahoma City.
De Los Santos led the Sharks the majority of the 2007 campaign. During the Sharks expansion season, De Los Santos earned the respect of team mates and fans with his gritty play and toughness. De Los Santos took a pounding that first season playing behind a porous offensive line. Despite the beating, he kept getting up time and time again to lead the Sharks to victories in 4 of their final five games.
Following that first season, De Los Santos had to undergo off season knee surgery which cost him the majority of the 2008 campaign.
"I felt the bug to come back and play", said De Los Santos. "Coach Trigg contacted me and everything just fell into place from there".
"John is a veteran guy who plays tough, leads by example, and commands the respect of his team mate", said Head Coach Mike Trigg. "His attitude and experience certainly benefits us".
He Los Santos is expected to split time under center with rookie QB Sedale Threatt. He is expected to take 20-30 snaps when the Sharks take on the Kentucky Horseman at the American Bank Center this Saturday night. The Sharks will pay tribute to the Dallas Cowboys during that game. The first 1000 fans receive a free koozie courtesy of Corpus Christi Harley Davidson. Fans will also have an opportunity to get their photo taken with the Lombardi Trophy and one lucky fan will win tickets to a 2009 Dallas Cowboys game. The game is presented by Big Brothers - Big Sisters and Andrews Distributing. Doors open at 6pm and kickoff is set for 7:05pm.
