Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
Oklahoma City, OK - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (7-5), took advantage of numerous miscues and six turnovers to down the Corpus Christ Sharks (2-10), 93-41.
Corpus Christ, already trailing by 8, fell into an early hole when QB Sedale Threatt's second pass of the game was intercepted by Tito Jose for a touchdown. On the very next offensive possession, Threatt fumbled the snap setting up a rare WR Al Hunt 2 yard TD pass to QB Robert Kent. The two point conversion was good and the Sharks were facing a 22 point deficit.
The night didn't get much better for the Sharks as the Yard Dawgz scored on all but one possession on the evening. The lone defensive stop came just before halftime when Arseel Shookar intercepted a Kent pass. The Sharks however turned the ball right back over and allowed the Yard Dawgz to out up a field goal to close the half making the score 59-26.
In his first action since returning to Corpus Christi, QB John De Los Santos got far more snaps then anticipated. De Los Santos couldn't shake off the rust going 10-25 for 173 yards, 3 picks and 4 TD's.
The lone bright spot Saturday night was the performance of Sharks Captain Brandon Hussey who eclipsed the 1000 yard plateau for the third consecutive season. Hussey sits atop every career receiving mark for the Sharks.
Questions abound now for the Sharks as they head into the second to last home game of the 2009 season this Saturday night against the Kentucky Horseman. The first and foremost will be who starts at QB.
