Arkansas Aeros News Release
Bentonville, AR. The NW Arkansas ABA expansion team announced that their team will be named the "Arkansas Aeros" and the website will be www.arkansasaeros.com.
And they have named Bob Hoffman, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Oklahoma Sooners to be their head coach. According to Charles Dickerson, team owner, "Oklahoma's loss is Northwest Arkansas' gain. Bob has accepted the challenge to lead the fledgling team and we could not be more excited about it."
Hoffman has amassed an impressive coaching resume. His most recent accolades including winning the 2004-2005 Big Twelve Regular Season Championship and the national publication consensus top five recruiting class for 2005-2006, which included signing the highest ranked high school player in Texas to play for OU.
"I understand the monumental task of moving to the professional level," said Hoffman. "That, coupled with organizing and building a first year program means that my work is cut out for me." Having an intricate network at the collegiate and professional levels in the sport and vast experience in the administrative and financial aspects of operation a serious basketball team, the Aeros feel they have made the first step in showing the league and the local community that they are serious about not just establishing the team, but doing it with the highest standards and level of talent possible.
Bob Hoffman can be reached at 479 445 9636. For more information on the Aeros, call Keith Newton at 479 485 0460 or email knewton@arkansasaeros.com or visit www.arkansasaeros.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
