Aeros make it a perfect 16-0 at home

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- The Arkansas Aeros moved to 16-0 at the All-Star Sports Arena after a 157-108 victory Saturday night over the Waco Wranglers in American Basketball Association action.

The Aeros (24-2) opened a 14-point lead after a quarter and cruised to their 13th straight victory overall. Arkansas put the game out of reach in the third, scoring 53 points in the frame in opening a 120-79 lead.

Curtis Haywood led the Aeros wwith 36 points and 12 rebounds. Teammate Jarred Merrill chipped in his own double-double with 23 and 11 for the ABA's second-rated team.

Reggie Griffin led Waco (7-18) with 41 points on the strength of a 16 of 30 shooting effort from the field.

Arkansas outrebounded Waco 62-33 in the contest, the sixth of the season between the two teams with the Aeros leading the series 6-0.

The two teams meet one final time at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at the All-Star Sports Arena.
