
Alexandria United has new co-owner

Alexandria, VA. The ABA Alexandria United professional basketball team that begins play in November today announced that Dr. Juna Mackey-Padilla has joined the ownership group. Dr. Mackey-Padilla is currently a consultant and founder of M.O.V.E. Empowerment Services, an organization designed to educate, encourage, empower and motivate individuals to M.O.V.E. toward healthier lifestyles and healthier communities through principles of healing, leadership and ACTION.
Dr. Mackey-Padilla, a Registered Nurse, has presented lectures and workshops about various HIV, cultural competence and health topics at local, national and international conferences and has publications in cultural competence and HIV. She has been recognized in the International Who's Who for Managers in 2004; the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1997; Outstanding Achievement in Education Award for the Virginia Nurses Association in 1995. She accepted her call and was licensed in the ministry in 2003 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Woodbridge VA. Dr. Mackey-Padilla received her Doctorate in Nursing Administration from George Mason University as well as her Masters Degree from there. She as also bestowed a doctorate degree in humanities from Eastern North Caroline Theological Institute in Weldon, NC and has been a part-time professor at both George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth University.
