Arkansas Aeros News Release
SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Playing in their first contest in 11 days, the Arkansas Aeros had enough gas in their tanks Sunday to pull out a 117-104 victory over the Monterrey Veneno in an American Basketball Association contest played at the All-Star Sports Arena in Springdale.
It was the lowest scoring output of the year for the Aeros, who were named Sunday the ABA's No. 1 team in the league's power rankings. The win moved the Arkansas squad to 8-1 overall, while Monterrey dropped to 4-6 on the season.
Curtis Haywood and Daryan Selvy's 23 points apiece led the Aeros, while point guard Quannas White added 19 to go with 12 rebounds and a game-high 9 assists.
Monterrey was led by Fred Hooks' 26 and Wayne Rhymes' 25.
The Aeros now take to the road for their next five games with a trip to Greenville, Miss., and a meeting with the Mississippi Miracles awaiting them on Tuesday.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
