
Arizona United SC Signs Zak Downes and Jordan Rideout

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 19, 2015) - Arizona United Soccer Club announces the signings of goalkeeper Zak Downes and forward Jordan Rideout.
Downes and Rideout bring the total number of Arizona United SC players under contract to 23 for the 2015 USL season.Â
Downes, 22, joins Arizona United SC after competing for a spot with Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union during its eight-week preseason camp in 2015. Prior to his time with the Union, Downes played collegiately at Western Illinois University in 2012 before he transferred to the University of Tampa prior to its 2014 season. In one season with the Spartans, Downes appeared in 17 matches and allowed just 16 goals.
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Downes played youth soccer for Major League Soccer's FC Dallas United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA). Downes played for the U.S. U-17 and U-20 teams and accepted an invitation to attend the prestigious U-17 National Residency program in Bradenton Florida from 2007-09.
Rideout, 22, enters his first professional season after wrapping up a four-year career at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Southport, England native appeared in 66 matches, scored 23 goals and notched two assists. Jordan played for Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City USSDA from 2009-2011. Rideout's father Paul played professionally in England for Aston Villa, Southhampton, Notts County, and Everton.
