Arizona Rattlers Week 4 Game Preview
March 15, 2018 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Arizona Rattlers News Release
Phoenix, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers will try to get back in the win column when they return home to take on the Green Bay Blizzard this Sunday. To do that, they will likely have to win in the trenches, as both the Rattlers and the Blizzard are currently the top two teams in the league on the ground.
The Rattlers had their 13-game win streak snapped on Saturday with a loss to the Iowa Barnstormers (2-0) and are looking to start a new one against the Blizzard. Green Bay, on the other hand, hopes to end a streak of their own, starting the season with three straight losses.
Arizona is coming off a tight game against the Barnstormers. The Rattlers had a chance to tie it up late, but turned the ball over on downs, to allow Iowa to kick the game winning field goal.
Green Bay will play their third straight game on the road when they travel to Arizona on Sunday. Their last game, in Nebraska last Saturday, was a 36-point loss to the Nebraska Danger (2-0). The Blizzard fell down early by 21 points and was never able to work their way back into the game.
The Rattlers on offense are currently leading the league in rushing, averaging 110.5 yards per game. RB Darrell Monroe has the bulk of the yards with 109, but RB Shadrach Thornton and WR/RB Jamal Miles have also played a significant part in the Rattlers run game. WR Anthony Amos is leading the way in receiving with 79 yards on six catches, three of which were for touchdowns. Miles is also playing a significant role in receiving with five catches for 45 yards and a touchdown.
The Blizzard aren't far behind in rushing, averaging 109.3 yards per game. In rushing, they are led by their quarterback, Christian Lemay, who has 117 total yards rushing. Their running back, Jasen Oden Jr., is a close second on the team with 104 rushing yards. WR Chris Malott has 108 yards receiving on eight catches and two touchdowns.
The Rattlers defense is allowing the fewest third down conversions in the league this season so far, only allowing the opposing teams to convert 23.1 percent of the attempts. They are also second in allowing first downs. DB Arkeith Brown currently leads the team in tackles with 10.5. DE Chris McAllister has nine tackles as well on the season, 3.5 of which were for a loss.
Defensively for the Blizzard, DB Josh Jenkins leads Green Bay with 16.5 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, and one pass defended.
The matchup will take place this Sunday, March 18th at 3:05 p.m. at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, In Phoenix, Arizona. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Arizona and can be seen live on the FOX Sports Go app, and on YouTube. The game will also be simulcasted on 1580 the Fanatic 99.3 FM and 95.9 FM.
